Document Readiness®

Organized preparation for life, emergencies, and future decision-making.

Document Readiness® through The Notary Doula helps individuals and families prepare important documents, identify trusted decision-makers, and organize essential information before urgent situations arise.

From advance directives and powers of attorney to personal instructions and document organization, this process helps bring structure, clarity, and continuity to the matters that are often delayed until crisis occurs.

Through guided conversations and practical support, we help clients move forward one step at a time — with preparation that is thoughtful, accessible, and properly executed.

Our Document Readiness® framework includes access to a comprehensive, multi-document system covering legal, medical, financial, family, and after-death care preparation.

Step One | Document Readiness® Conversation

The first step is a guided conversation designed to better understand your current level of preparedness and identify areas that may benefit from additional attention, organization, or support.

Many people know there are important matters they need to address but are unsure where to begin. This conversation creates space to thoughtfully explore next steps in a calm, supportive, and manageable way.

Whether preparing for future planning, supporting loved ones, organizing important information, or addressing unfinished matters, this process helps bring greater clarity and direction to what may otherwise feel overwhelming.

Step Two | Document Readiness® Assessment

For those who wish to move forward, the Document Readiness® Assessment provides a more comprehensive evaluation of current preparedness needs, existing documents, family considerations, and areas requiring additional support or coordination.

This step allows us to thoughtfully assess:

  • what documents may already be in place
  • what gaps may exist
  • what decisions still need clarification
  • what level of implementation support may be beneficial

The assessment process may include discussion surrounding:

  • advance directives
  • powers of attorney
  • medical preparedness
  • after-death instructions
  • trusted decision-makers
  • organizational systems
  • family coordination needs
  • notarization requirements
  • document accessibility and storage

Recommendations are tailored to each individual, family, and situation.

This process helps create a clearer pathway toward organized preparedness and practical next steps.
